Questions, answered.

Common questions about physiotherapy at our Sumner clinic — appointments, costs, funding, and what to expect on the day.

Booking & first visit.

No referral is required for most physiotherapy services. A GP referral is needed for Medicare-rebated Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plans. NDIS, WorkCover, and DVA require prior approval from the relevant body. Private health insurance claimants do not need a referral.

Please bring your Medicare card, private health insurance card, any relevant imaging (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound reports), a referral letter if applicable, and comfortable clothing that allows access to the area being treated. We recommend arriving 10 minutes early to complete intake paperwork.

Initial assessments are typically 45 to 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are usually 30 to 45 minutes. Appointment length may vary depending on your condition and treatment plan.

Funding & rebates.

Yes — we offer HICAPS on-the-spot claiming for all major private health funds. You only pay the gap (if any) at the time of your appointment. Please bring your health insurance card.

Physiotherapy may be bulk billed for eligible patients with a GP-issued Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. Contact the clinic to confirm your eligibility before booking. Learn more about bulk billing physio at Alpha Physio.

Each funding pathway has its own approval process. NDIS participants need an active plan with physiotherapy support included. WorkCover claims require a medical certificate from your treating GP or specialist. DVA patients need a DVA referral. Contact us and we will guide you through the process.

Practical questions.

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may incur a fee. Call us on (07) 3279 3871 or email info@alphaphysio.com.au to reschedule.
